Community Profile

Mendon is a village in northern Mercer County, Ohio, located on State Route 707. It is situated 35 miles west of Lima, Ohio; 60 miles southeast of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 20 miles south of Van Wert, Ohio; and 10 miles north of Celina, Ohio. U.S. Route 127 is just a 4 minute drive and provides north-south access; while U.S. 33, which provides east-west access, is a mere 6 minute drive. This network of highways allows one to travel to Indianapolis, Indiana; or Detroit, Michigan; in less than 3 hours. It also makes air transportation readily available as Ft. WayneInternational Airport can be reached in approximately 1 hour and Toledo Express Airport in less than 2 hours. South of Celina, a 23 minute drive down US 127, is Lakefield Airport which handles small, private planes.

Our village provides municipal electric, water, and wastewater; nice park equipment/ facilities for the family who enjoys the outdoors; and friendly residents who will welcome you to the community. At the park, you will find a Civil War Cannon with our historic town hall nearby. Palmer Bridge allows roadside parking and access to the St. Marys River. Grand Lake St. Marys, the largest inland lake in Ohio, lies approximately 15 minutes south of the village, and provides a variety of water recreation.

Also adjacent to Grand Lake is Wright State Lake Campus which offers a number of degree programs where one can gain an associate, bachelor, and master degree. More colleges are available in Lima (30-45 minute drive) including Ohio State (Lima Branch), Rhodes State College, and the University of Northwestern Ohio.

We are people who work together to make continuous improvements to our community. Our village offers an antique shop, craft and flower shop, retail stores, and eateries with home cooking. Why not stop by and pay us a visit? We’d love to show you around. You might decide this is the place for you – a quiet community with dedicated citizens and accessibility to larger municipal areas.
