AMP Members

Member Communities

AMP's public power member communities have been recognized for their productive business climate. Five of AMP’s seven member states ranked in the top 15 of Site Selection Magazine’s 2010 Top State Business Climate Rankings. Learn more about AMP.

Each of American Municipal Power’s (AMP’s) member communities offer their own unique set of economic advantages as can be seen when viewing each member’s community profile page located in the Resource Center.

Member Joint Action Agency

In 2011, the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (DEMEC) became AMP's 129th member. DEMEC is a public power joint action agency and wholesale electric utility established in 1979 to provide power supply and related services to nine municipally-owned distribution utilities in the state of Delaware through owned generation assets and power purchased from other generators in the PJM region. DEMEC manages a diversified power supply portfolio which includes natural gas fired generation, wind and solar assets.

Public Power Partners

AMP members have one significant common advantage; they own and operate their own non-profit, municipal-owned electric system. Whether it is the city of Danville (the largest municipally owned electric utility in Virginia) or Custar (the smallest municipally owned electric utility in Ohio), our member communities are locally owned, reliable and cost competitive when it comes to providing electric service.

If your business model calls for a location in a major metropolitan city or a less densely populated village or borough of the commonwealth, regardless of their size, AMP’s public power partners offer close proximity to; major markets and natural resources, interstate highways, major airports, shipping ports, excellence in education, and a skilled, experienced workforce.
