Ohio Route 18/199/613 is just a 6-minute drive, U.S. Route 6 & 23 – 9 minutes, and the Ohio Turnpike (Interstates 80/90) an approximate 25-minute drive. These crossroads across Ohio allow for less than a two (2) hour commute to metropolitan areas such as Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and Detroit & Ann Arbor, Michigan.
For further destinations, Toledo Express Airport is approximately 40 minutes to the north as well as Detroit Michigan Metropolitan Airport (2 hours). Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport and Ft. Wayne International Airport can both be reached within two (2) hours.

Cygnet operates its own municipal electric and water distribution systems. We also operate our own waste management treatment plant. As a municipal utility, we are owned by you and are here to serve you with reliable, economical electric energy, water and sewage treatment. We are members of American Municipal Power (AMP), a non-profit organization who purchases, generates, and distributes electrical power, as well as provides a variety of related services to 128 member communities in six states. Suburban Natural Gas is a locally owned company that has remained in our community for over 100 years.

The youth of Cygnet attend Elmwood Local Schools. Elmwood School offers preschool to 3 and 4-year-old children, all-day, everyday kindergarten and grades 1-12 on a community type setting. Upon graduation, they may choose from a number of colleges within a 15-45 minute commute, including: Bowling Green State University (14 minutes), University of Findlay (18 minutes), Owens Community College – Toledo (29 minutes), University of Toledo (39 minutes), Defiance College (40 minutes) and Ohio Northern University – Ada (41 minutes).
