Community Profile

A small city by population, Orrville, Ohio, is an industrious community continually planning for the future. Located on State Route 57 in Northeast Ohio, we are approximately three miles north of U.S. 30 and 16 miles south of Interstate 76. From the State Route 57/Interstate 76 intersection, Interstates 77 and 71 are within a 10 minute drive. These highways make it possible to reach such metropolitan areas as Cleveland, Youngstown, Columbus, and Toledo, Ohio, as well as Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in two hours or less.

Twenty-four (24) miles east, we have access to Akron/Canton Regional Airport. Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport is 50 miles north. Federal Express, United Parcel Service, and several trucking firms provide service to the area as well.

Orrville owns, operates, and maintains electric, water, wastewater, storm water, and telecommunications services. As a result, we have control over customer service and response times to citizen complaints/problems. It also means, we work for you, and will provide you with the most reliable and economical services possible. Our police and fire departments have quality staff, ready to protect you and your property.

Education is of utmost importance to our community. Orrville City Schools provide excellent education for our youth; however, they do not do it alone. Heartland Education Community, Inc. was formed in 1991 to involve the entire community. Together, we aim to foster citizenship, life-long learning, and productive employment within Orrville. The City has been designated as a BEST (Building Excellent Schools for Today and the 21st Century) Community. Junior and Senior High students may choose to attend The Wayne County Schools Career Center in Smithville to obtain technical/career training. For those desiring higher learning, The University of Akron-Wayne College is also available here. The College of Wooster and The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster are an approximate 20 minute commute and offer Associate, Baccalaureate, and Masters degrees. Sixteen colleges/universities are within an hour’s drive of Orrville.

Many recreational and leisure opportunities are available in and around our community. We are home to a beautiful 6-site park system, with Orr Park as its core at 40+ acres. Our parks offer a wide range of activities including softball, baseball, basketball, tennis, playground equipment, swimming pool, and the Rehm Performing Arts Pavilion which hosts various entertainment activities. We are also home to two golf courses. The northern Ohio area offers one the opportunities to view professional sports, attend museums, enjoy the rides at Cedar Point Amusement Park, as well as attend other cultural and entertainment events.

Nationally recognized firms such as The J.M. Smucker Company (1897), The Smith Dairy Company (1909), the Schantz Organ Company (1873), The Wil-Burt Company (1918), and The Quality Castings Company (1933) have found success in Orrville. Many other industries have also found success here and have been a part of our community for 30+ years. Wouldn’t you like to be a part of the winning combination in Orrville? Sites are available. We look forward to hearing from you and having the opportunity to show you around.
