Community Profile
Located in southwest Ohio, Georgetown serves as the county seat of Brown County. Though our community is small in size, we have an immense history. Primarily recognized as the boyhood home of President Ulysses Grant, his homestead is just one of many historic places in the region. The Grant Homestead Association hosts an annual celebration.
Georgetown Exempted Village Schools provides the education of our local youth. Following high school, our students have numerous colleges/universities within easy commute of home. They include: University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, Northern Kentucky University, University of Cincinnati-Clermont College, University of Cincinnati-Raymond Walters College, Southern State Community College, and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. All of these institutions of higher learning are within 40 miles or less of our village.
Our village boasts its own local utility services: water, sewer, wastewater treatment, electric, and street departments. As everyone knows one another within the community, quality services and quick response times are not only expected, but received. We find great reward in serving our fellow citizens and maintaining the quality of life for which our community is known.
Georgetown offers quality parks and recreational facilities. The Kathryn Hanlon Park is a 40 acre recreational facility which offers a walking trail, soccer and ball fields, basketball and volleyball courts, playground equipment, shelter houses, etc. The park provides a relaxing atmosphere for family enjoyment.
Georgetown provides the serenity of small-town America, with easy access to major highways and metropolitan areas. Interstates 71 and 75 are both within an hour’s drive, Interstate 70 is within 2 hours, and Interstate 77 within 3 hours. These major thoroughfares allow access to such cities as Cincinnati, OH (1 hr.); Lexington, KY (2 hr.); Columbus, OH (2 ¼ hr.); and Indianapolis (2 ¾ hr.). Metropolitan areas such as Nashville, TN; Raleigh, NC; and Pittsburgh, PA can also be reached within an easy day’s drive. For those long distance commutes, the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport is just a 50 mile drive.
Why not check out Georgetown for yourself? We have much to offer. A visit to our community may turn into more than a visit – you might decide to call Georgetown “home.”
