Why Lansdale?
The area began to transform in the 1850s with the arrival of the North Pennsylvania Railroad. The railroad brought jobs, which spurred the growth of housing, businesses, and hotels. By 1860, the village was designated as a post office hub, and as the population grew, so did the need for formal governance. On Aug. 24, 1872, Lansdale was officially incorporated as a borough, named after railroad engineer Philip Lansdale Fox. The event marked the start of a new chapter for the 269-acre community.
Lansdale is a welcoming community and is open for business. In recent years, a number of modern residential and commercial development projects have been initiated and completed. Many businesses proudly call Lansdale home, contributing to the community’s growth, convenience and vibrancy.
