Community Profile

Located on Historic Heritage Route US-12 and just west of I-69, Coldwater, Michigan, provides quality services beyond what is available in many municipalities today. While one may enjoy a visit to our old-fashioned, Victorian era shops, they can bring along their laptops and enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the downtown. While we’ve preserved our heritage, we continually look to the future.

Our municipal services include electric, water, and wastewater; cable, internet, and phone service; as well as garbage, recycling, and brush collection. As a municipal electric “public power” provider, our service is safe, reliable, and competitively priced. Our water utility provides a wellhead protection program which is one of the first of its kind in Michigan. Municipal services are governed by citizens you elect to represent you. You are able to attend their meetings and voice your opinions. Municipal services are governed, operated, and maintained right here in our community.

Parks abound in our city with a variety of offerings. We offer the usual pool, pavilions, playground equipment, trails, tennis courts; and areas for softball, soccer, basketball and volleyball. In addition, we also provide a sledding hill, a skateboard park, and fields for the mountain bikers. For a complete review of recreational opportunities, you will need to visit our website. If you enjoy fishing or just a water view, look no further. The Coldwater River and Sauk River both run through the city, and combine to form several shallow lakes on the west side of our community.

Coldwater Community Schools provide education for our youth. Our community also provides opportunities for further learning at Baker CollegeKellogg Community College. In less than 40 minutes, one can commute to Hillsdale College, Olivet College, or Triune University. Within two hours, you can drive to the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Notre Dame, Western Michigan University, or the University of Toledo. Educational opportunities surround us.

As with any progressive community, you must be accessible to others. Interstate 69 provides quality north-south transportation, while Interstates 80/90 (a 15 minute commute to the south) and Interstate 94 (30 minutes to the north) provide excellent east-west travel.

ACM (Tier 1 automotive supplier), Voltek (foam manufacturing), Darling International (rendering facility), WalMart (distribution facility), and Putnam Machining Products (precision machining components and assemblies), and Bronson Tool Design (plastic injection molding, welding, CNC engineering/machining/programming, design services, etc.), are some of the businesses who have found success here. They’ve found, as you will, Coldwater is a great place to work and a great place to call home. Give us a call and we’ll arrange a time to show you around.
