Community Profile
Located in Henry County in northwest Ohio, Deshler provides a friendly, small-town atmosphere in which to raise a family, but also offers many of the amenities of larger communities. We are approximately 15 miles west of Interstate 75 via State Route 18 which runs east-west through our village. State Route 65 is two miles west of town, State Route 235 five miles east, and State Route 281 five miles north. We are approximately 30 miles from Napoleon, Findlay, and Bowling Green. Toledo is 51 minutes northeast, and the Toledo Express Airport (located in Swanton) is just a 45 minute commute.
Deshler offers municipal utilities, i.e. water, wastewater, electric distribution, and gas systems. We have two recreational parks within the community which provide shelter houses, playground equipment, a swimming pool, tennis courts, reservoirs for fishing, baseball and softball fields, etc. We take pride in our parks and recreational programs.
Patrick Henry Schools, located here, provide an academic environment for 1200+ students. The music department, science department, and vocational agriculture department regularly compete at the state levels. It is the goal of our schools and the community to provide an environment for our youth which prepares them for life-long learning and assists them in becoming productive citizens.
Within an easy commute are two technical colleges, three private colleges, and two state universities for one to gain additional training or obtain a degree. These include such institutions as: The University of Findlay, Bowling Green State University, Owens Community College – Toledo Campus, Ohio Northern University, and the University of Toledo.
Many civic groups contribute both effortlessly and financially to the betterment of our community. We are people working together for the good of all.
