Community Profile
Near the Indiana border, just north of Interstate 70 in Preble County lies the Village of Eldorado. Our strategic location, 15 minutes from the “Crossroads of America” (Interstate 70/75 intersection) provides access to everywhere. If you don’t wish to drive, the Dayton International Airport is just a 35 minute commute. Norfolk & Southern Railway Company, with 21,500 route miles in twenty-two eastern states, also serves our area.
Eldorado operates its own municipal electric, sewer, and refuse services. As municipal services, you play a role in their operation by electing representatives to the board/council and the opportunity to express your concerns in open meetings. If there is a problem, these issues can be resolved locally, not in some other large city.
Our community provides that “small-town” atmosphere, where everyone knows one another and the sounds of nature can be heard. One might check out a book from the local library (part of the Preble County District Library), pull up a chair on the porch, and enjoy a good read amidst the chirping birds.
However, for those who like the getaways to larger metropolitan areas, we have great access to several cities. Our proximity to Dayton via I-70/75, as well as Indianapolis, Indiana; Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio – all within a two (2) hour drive, provide many additional opportunities. These cities allow one to enjoy the arts, fine dining, or professional spectator sports such as baseball, football, basketball, hockey, etc.
Our school children attend the “excellent” National Trail Local Schools. Excellent colleges/universities are also available within an hour’s drive. They include: Wright State University, Sinclair Community College, UniversityDayton, Miami University, and Wittenberg University.
Come, make a visit to Eldorado. Let us show you what we have to offer.
