Community Profile

Old traditions and progressive spirit make Quakertown an ideal place to locate. Quakertown, Pennsylvania is a town of approximately 10,000 residents in the northeast portion of Upper Bucks County, about 50 miles north of Philadelphia.

The Borough encompasses approximately two square miles and has over 21 miles of roads. Interstate 476 is just an eight-minute commute, while Interstate 78 can be accessed in fifteen minutes. These thoroughfares make the metropolitan areas of Philadelphia, Scranton, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; New York City, New York; and Trenton, New Jersey, accessible in less than two hours. While Quakertown Airport accepts charter flights, the Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown can be reached in less than 30 minutes, and the Philadelphia International Airport in approximately one hour.

Our Borough takes pride in our municipal utilities and services which include electric, water, sewer, trash, and recycling. Additionally, we are dedicated to offering more “traditional municipal services”, such as police, code enforcement, and public works. As your local utilities, we strive to provide quality, reliable service at an economical price. The Finance Department handles the monthly utility billing and customer service for these services, exemplifying our dedication to our residents. The real estate tax rate, which has not been raised over 55 years, at 1.625 mills for all real properties, is lowest of all 54 Bucks County municipalities.

Students attend Quakertown Community School District or may choose a private school through grade 8. Upon graduation, one may opt to further their education close to home. DeSales University, Bucks County Community College and Penn State Lehigh Valley are all within a 15-minute drive.

In addition to a great location, quality utilities and educational opportunities, a community must offer entertainment and recreational opportunities. Quakertown does just that! Amongst our park and recreational system, you’ll find athletic fields, an aquatic center, basketball and tennis courts, an all-inclusive playground, a concrete skatepark, jogging and bike paths, and an outdoor amphitheater. A full range of programs, sports, activities, and special events take place at these facilities throughout the year.

Let us show you what we have to offer you and come find out why Quakertown is a great place to live, work, and play!
