Edgerton: Your Hometown and Mine
Located in the northwestern tip of Ohio, Edgerton’s citizens have a mindset of occupational attitude; loyalty, dedication, intellect, reliability and hard work. We are a compassionate and family-oriented community with a strong German work ethic passed down from generation to generation.
While mindset is an important factor to any operation, location plays a key role. Edgerton is just 3 minutes from Indiana and 23 minutes from Michigan. Three interstates (I-69, I-80 and I-90) can be reached within minutes and I-75 is just an hour away, making larger metropolitan areas easily accessible. Ft. Wayne International Airport is just an hour away; Toledo Express Airport can be reached in an hour and ten minutes. Our access to major highways makes Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Indianapolis, Indiana, less than a 3 hour drive, while in just over 3 hours one can reach Chicago, Illinois. Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Erie, Pennsylvania; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania can be driven in less than 5 hours.
Educational facilities are always a must. The Edgerton School district is in the process of completing an energy efficient building addition for grades Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade. It is scheduled to begin serving students for the 2011/2012 school year. To gain additional training or further one’s education, there are several facilities within a 30-60 minute drive (i.e. Defiance College, Triune University, Northwest State Community College, Indiana Business College, Indiana University of Technology, and Hillsdale College). Bowling Green State University is a 1 ¼ hour drive.
Through generous donations of both funds and land, the community offers an 80 acre public park (Miller Park) which has such amenities as an open-air pavilion with picnic tables, an open-air gazebo, and an enclosed shelter house that can be used for receptions, meetings, reunions, and parties. The park includes a basketball court, three tennis courts, three co-ed regulation-sized softball fields, a sand volleyball court, nature trail, horseshoes and a pony league baseball field that will open in early 2012.
Our village employees work daily to provide reliable electricity, water, and sewer; and preserve our roadways for safe transportation. We are proud to serve our community. Stop by and let us show you what Edgerton has to offer you.
